FAQ for Florida
-
Experiential therapy is an approach where change happens through direct experience — new sensations, images, and embodied moments in the room — rather than through talking about a problem alone. At REC SPACE, this means combining cognitive insight (knowing), somatic awareness (feeling), and new lived experience (doing) so the nervous system, not just the mind, reorganizes around a new pattern.
-
Experiential therapy creates opportunities to have new experiences in the present moment, rather than only talking about a problem after the fact. Instead of building intellectual understanding alone, sessions work directly with emotion, the body, imagination, and relational patterns as they show up live — which is often what actually shifts a pattern that talk therapy alone hasn't moved.
-
Insight and change aren't the same thing. Most stuck patterns are held in the nervous system, body, and implicit memory — not just in conscious understanding. REC SPACE's approach works with relationship, embodiment, and creativity together, so change happens on a felt and lived level, not just a cognitive one.
-
REC SPACE works well for high-functioning, insight-rich adults who understand their own psychology intellectually but feel stuck repeating the same patterns anyway — often people who've already tried standard talk therapy and felt something was still missing.

REC SPACE provides experiential psychotherapy to individuals in Florida entirely via telehealth. Lauren Ziel, LCSW, is licensed to serve Florida residents virtually, drawing on the same integrative approach — relational, embodied, and creative therapy to change patterns that can’t simply be thought through.

Yes. Techniques like Brainspotting, ART, and somatic awareness work rely on guided internal attention rather than in-person contact, and many Florida clients find it easier to stay present and grounded in their own familiar space during sessions.

I deeply value this work and honor the skill & capacity needed to create a safe and nourishing space for my clients. For this reason, I do not take on very many clients in order to maintain the integrity of our work together.
I will remember the names of your loved ones. I will want to see pictures of your baby or fur-baby. I will be genuinely curious to bear witness to all you have to express.
